Oggi presentiamo una traduzione di un post apparso su Shadowessence in cui si delinea il futuro dei Clanbook o libri di Clan. Il primo dei Clanbook dovrebbe essere Ventrue: Lords Over The Dead, il secondo molto probabilmente sarà dedicato ai Daeva. Quasi sicuramente non saranno soft-cover come inizialmente si vociferava. L’autore non è altri che Will Hindmarch, developer della linea Vampiri il Requeim. Come al solito, per amore della precisione, è presente sia la parte in inglese sia la sua traduzione in italiano. Ecco qui qui di seguito le parole di Will:

My thinking about clan books got changed when the current voice of the new clan books fell into place in my head. This is one reason why I’m writing the first one myself — to show how I think it should be done. Because I’m still puzzling out some of the architecture for the book, it’s impossible for me to say exactly what the final clanbooks will look like, but I can tell you that they’ll be a combination of new crunch and some of the most evocative, blood-spattered, wet-and-grit-studded-as-pavement books in the line.
Il mio pensiero sui clan book è cambiato quando la voce attuale dei nuovi clanbook è entrata nella mia testa. Questa è la ragione per cui stò scrivendo il primo da solo – per mostrare come io penso che debbano essere fatti. But the clan books are coming to the surface for several important reasons:
Ma i clanbook stanno venendo fuori per diverse importante ragioni:

1. Better now than later. The longer we take to do them, the less good they’ll do for the line as a whole. The covenant books have been massive setting-establishing things that expand the fenced yards of the core Requiem playground, but even as big as they are I was never able to put in all the stuff I wanted to. The clan books seed and build on some of the ground we uncovered with the covenant books. The longer we leave that ground untouched, though, the harder it will be to plant.

I manuali di congrega sono stati un massiccio ampliamento del setting che hanno allargato i confini del materiale presentanto nel manuale base di Requiem, ma per quanto grandi essi siano non sono stato capace di metterci tutte le cose che volevo. 2. So the covenant books necessarily had to expand the game more than color it. It was just their job. The clan books, on the other hand, clarify some of Requiem‘s voices by looking at the five main instruments that make up the song. Most vampires are members of a covenant. Every vampire is a member of a clan. Clan books give us a chance to survery the setting in a new way, with the benefit of all of our covenant books being available for all writers. They’re our ongoing look at the living society of the undead — not their politics but their culture.
2. Così i manuali di congrega necessariamente dovevano espandere il gioco più che dargli più sfumature. Questo era il loro obbiettivo. I clanbook, d’altra parte, chiarificano molte delle voci del Requiem guardando ai cinque principali strumenti che compongono la canzone. Molti vampiri sono membri di una congrega. Tutti i vampiri sono membri di un clan. I clanbook ci danno un opportunità di esaminare il setting in un nuovo modo, con il beneficio che tutti i nostri manuali di congrega siano già disponibili per tutti gli scrittori. Loro sono il nostro sguardo sulla “vivente” società dei non-morti – non la loro politica ma la loro cultura.

3. You guys here have one voice. The email we get at the office has a very different one. No small number of customers feel like the game hasn’t really activated yet because they don’t know what to do with the clans, and I can’t honestly blame them. Clans define a lot about your character — not as much as in Masquerade and not the same amount for every Requiem player, but they’re still vital — but we haven’t given people much help in realizing them.
Voi ragazzi qui avete una voce. Le email che ci sono arrivate all’ufficio si differenziano di molto. Non sono pochi i clienti che sentono che il gioco non si è ancora realmente messo in moto poiché non sanno ancora cosa fare con i clan, e onestamente io non posso biasimarli. I clan definiscono molto dei vostri personaggi – non tanto quanto in Masquerade e non nello stesso modo per il Requiem di ogni giocatore, ma sono ancora vitali – ma noi non abbiamo dato alla gente molto aiuto per comprenderlo.
